Geo Max GM 840 DD description

The Geo - Max 840 DD is a high performance geothermal drill rig mounted on a Caterpillar track mobile base. The main advantages of the Geo – Max 840 DD are its extreme manoeuvrability, pullback capacity of 48 000 Lbs (21 770 kg), hydraulic power of 290 HP, a double head designed specifically for geothermal overburden drilling and a unique rod handling system.

The Geo-Max is equipped with a double head rotary drive which will also drill with a Down-The-Hole (DTH) hammer but the second rotary simultaneously turns the casing while drilling. The double rotary significantly increases the daily footage of drilling; giving enough power to drill in every type of mixed ground conditions (overburden / hard rock).

Some important features include:

1.         Double head rotary drive model Eurodrill DH 1900 with integrated deflector designed specifically for geothermal overburden drilling, where both the casing and drilling rod operate at the same time. Counter-clockwise operation of the casing and drilling rod gears significantly increases drilling efficiency with great precision, preventing an inadvertent release of rod and casing during the pipe feeding and discharging. Integrated sliding cylinder provides relative adjustment of the casing to the inner rod. There are 3 levels of rotary speed output in the casing and 2 levels of rotary speed output in the rod. These rotary speeds can be easily adjusted in rating speed of each level in order to be suitable for variety drilling method and technique.

2.         Robot arm, equipped with double clamps to simultaneously deliver the casing and inner rod assembly to the rod feeder and back (feeding and discharging). The robot arm picks up the rod and casing or rod only, bring it to the rod feeder which holds the rod and casing standby while drilling. Once the hole is finished, uncouple, trip up and load the rod and casing or rod only. This reduces the operating time and greatly increases efficiency, since this operation can be done while drilling.

3.         The drilling machine is equipped with a modern load sensing, variable displacement and pressure compensated hydraulic system with the fulfillment of the antipollution law in force EPA3. Optimum consumption due to load sensing control.

4.         Drilling mast and feeding assembly can turn up to a 100 degree from horizontal. Specific heavy duty mast structure designed for drill pipe of 10 ft (3 m) with drill head travel length of 14.99 ft (4.57 m). Feed system hoisting and pull down power is provided by link chain that uses two powerful hydraulic gear boxes controlled hydraulically for accurate trust. Integrated drill pipe deflector for cuttings when drilling without casing.

5.         The drilling rig involves triple break-out and clamp hydraulic jaws. This makes clamping and loosening of drilling tools connection easier, more convenient and dependable, and reduces the assistant work time of the operating during the drill work.

6.         The Geo – Max 840 DD features our uniquely designed hydraulic box rack casing and rod system, capable of vertically storing 10 ft (3 m) long pipes. The rack is attached to a hydraulic actuator, allowing it to be raised for drilling and lowered for transportation. First Pipe Rack stores casings and inner rod assemblies (up to 150 ft <> 45.72 m).  Second Pipe Rack stores additional inner rods (up to 400 ft <> 121.9 m).

7.         All the controls are clearly arranged on the control stand. This design allows the driller to safely control and observe all operations and the borehole.

8.         The Geo – Max 840 DD is designed with the end user in mind. Drillers can benefit from its unique features, optimized for high performance, efficiency and reliability, in any operational environment.
